Impact of Green Energy Education on University Students’ Attitude, Behaviour Intention and Actual Engagement in Green Energy Practices
Main Article Content
Abstract
The current research investigated the impact of Green Energy Education (GEE) on developing positive behaviors towards green energy among university students in in China, in recognition of the crucial role of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs. The study targeted to analyze initiatives taken by HEIs in offering Green Energy Education (UIGEE), Students’ Attitude Towards Green Energy Education (SAGE), Behavioral Intention towards such activities (SBIGE), and Students’ Actual Engagement in Green Energy Activities (SAEGE). The present study employed cluster sampling, involving 306 valid responses collected from university students in China using an online questionnaire. SEM-AMOS analysis was employed to study the interrelationships among the variables. Empirical results showed that green energy education offered in universities, and students’ attitude towards GEE significantly affects students’ actual engagement in green energy activities and also has a significant influence on SAEGE. Moreover, UIGEE indirectly impacts SAEGE through SBIGE. Overall, the research highlights the significance of offering green energy education in HEIs and fills a literature gap in HEIs' green energy education implementation.
